Coming: Community Education Associate (CEA) Certification for front-line worker who are working in either of the components of Community Education: after school care, youth work or adult basic education. The program would provide evidence of the acquisition of the knowledge and competencies needed for working as front line staff in the community education field.
The CEA competency standards and coursework define the skills needed by providers and the strategies necessary to demonstrate their ability to work effectively with different populations. CEA training addresses various settings: after school programs, summer camps, adult basic education centers, youth work agencies and other settings where quality of work is critical.
Purpose of credentialing:
- Professional recognition that is nationally accepted
- Improving the quality of learning for those receiving services (after school, youth, adults)
- Exhibiting evidence of training and resultant competencies (skills)
- Connecting across the disciplines to reinforce knowledge and practice of Community Education
- Creating a continuum and connection to the other NCEA credentialing program
The final assessment and credentialing of providers would be administered by the National Community Education Association in Virginia, however NCEA can contract with local centers to administer the process and participate in the assessments. |
